The short version
This site has no accounts, no tracking cookies, no advertising pixels, and no server-side storage of anything you do here. The navigator keeps its state in the page URL so the link is shareable; that state never reaches us.
What the navigator does with your answers
The four selections are held in your browser and written into the URL hash. If you share the link, whoever receives it sees the same route — which is the point. Nothing is transmitted to Meritalien.
Fonts and third-party requests
Typefaces load from Google Fonts and the motion libraries load from a public CDN. Those requests necessarily expose your IP address to those providers. We self-host everything else.
If you contact us
If you write to us, we hold the message and your contact details in order to reply and, where relevant, to provide what you asked about. We do not sell or share it, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
The Brief, on Substack
The Brief publishes on Substack, so if you subscribe, your email address is held by Substack and the emails are sent by them. Substack's own privacy policy governs what they do with it. Our side sees the address and whether the subscription is active. Every email carries an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to remove you and we will.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have rights of access, correction and deletion over personal data we hold. Ask us and we will action it. For a Substack subscription, ask them as well — they hold the record, not us.
Changes
If we add analytics or anything else that collects data, this page will say so before it happens.
